Drive on aTrain

Going down to Italy, Spain or the South of France by car used to be a tedious affair. First the trek down to the ferry, then the boat ride, then came the longest part – the drive down to the South. Some people love that journey as they can make it into part of their holiday, but for others the long journey can eat considerable into the holiday time.

There is, however, another alternative for those wishing to take their car. You can find more details on various websites but the concept is simple. You put your car in a special compartment on the train in France, and then sit in your pre-booked cabin for the journey south. It is also easier to amuse kids on a train. What could be simpler?

The advantages are that you are able to look at the beautiful scenery on your way down instead of concentrating on driving. And you arrive at your destination relaxed and ready to start your holiday.

The disadvantages are that it is relatively expensive, and you do not get to stumble across the nooks and crannies of France that you might discover if you were driving yourself.

But if you are pressed for time and want to start your holiday quickly and in a relaxed mode, then this might be a great option to consider.
